Cystistat®
Cystistat® is a sterile solution of sodium hyaluronate for the temporary replacement of the layer of glycosaminoglycans (GAG) of the urinary bladder.
The deterioration of the GAG layer of the bladder epithelium may cancel its barrier function and allow the attachment of bacteria, microcrystals, proteins and ions, or transit of waste and non-ionic soluble like urea across the epithelium.
Cystistat® has proved useful in the treatment of:
CAUTION: Do not administer to patients with known hypersensitivity to sodium hyaluronate. Cystistat® is well tolerated but may cause allergic reactions (rash and/or local itching). Catheterization may also cause exacerbation of symptoms, bladder or urethral pain and discomfort or urinary tract infection. If any of the adverse reactions occur, inform your doctor and discontinue use. In the absence of clinical evidence regarding the use of sodium hyaluronate in children, pregnant and lactating women, treatment with Cystistat® is not recommended in these patients.
